A Wonderful Knife Trailer Highlights Justin Long, Jane Widdop, and Joel McHale's Holiday Slasher

It's a Wonderful Knife brings Christmas slasher terror. Grab your knives and eggnog.

Horror film It's a Wonderful Knife opens Nov. 10 in theaters to kick off the holiday season early. Jane Widdop (Yellowjackets), Joel McHale (Community), Justin Long (Barbarian), and Cassandra Naud (Influencer) will star in the holiday-themed slasher, billed as It's a Wonderful Life by way of Scream.

Widdop will play protagonist Winnie Carruthers. McHale plays her father, David, and Long plays local patron Mr. Waters. Michael Kennedy (of Freaky) wrote the screenplay, which Tyler MacIntyre (who directed Tragedy Girls) is directing. Divide/Conquer and Seth Caplan produce it with Fourth Culture Films. Independent Entertainment and Kennedy executive produce.

Winnie Carruthers' life isn't great a year after saving her community from a deranged attacker on Christmas Eve, but when she wishes she'd never been born, she finds herself in a horrific parallel reality and realizes things could be far worse without her. Now the killer is returned, and she must work with the town oddball to identify him and return to normal.

Fantastic Knife from Freaky Co-Writer

After working on Freaky with Christopher Landon, Kennedy conceived the project. Divide/Conquer wants to explore the filmmaker's creative talents with Tyler MacIntyre, who directed Tragedy Girls and an amazing portion of V/H/S/99.

While working on Freaky, we were charmed by Michael Kennedy's brilliance and became his fans. Collaborating with Tyler Macintyre, a budding genre filmmaker, to bring Michael's distinctive horror-comedy blend to life is an honor "Adam Hendricks and Greg Gilreath of Divide/Conquer remarked.

"We are thrilled to launch It's A Wonderful Knife at Cannes this year, partnering for the first time with Seth Caplan and Divide/Conquer, whose genre credentials speak for themselves," said Independent Entertainment's Sarah Lebutsch. "Michael Kennedy's script creates a roller coaster horror experience audiences worldwide will appreciate, and Tyler's direction and our charismatic cast will make for a truly exciting Christmas horror to be replayed in future holidays.”

The movie's great ensemble and creative talents justify its direct-to-theater release, while it's a risky move in the industry. It's a Wonderful Knife could succeed and bloody up the holiday season when it hits theaters Nov. 10.
