Andy Muschietti, the director of "The Flash," has been confirmed as the "Top Choice" to direct the Batman reboot for the DC Universe

Previously rumored, Andy Muschietti will take the helm of the DCU's Batman revamp The Brave and the Bold.

Andy Muschietti, who directed The Flash, is officially the "top choice" to direct the next Batman film, The Brave and the Bold. The Dark Knight will be given a fresh lease on life in James Gunn and Peter Safran's reimagined DC Cinematic Universe in their next DC Extended Universe film.

Now, multiple sources have confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that Gunn and Safran plan to keep Muschietti in the DC family after the success of The Flash. The Hollywood Reporter states, "He is the top choice to direct Batman feature The Brave and the Bold, multiple sources tell THR," albeit no official offer has been made as of yet. "Though there is no script — and thus no formal commitment from the filmmaker — until one materializes post-writers strike," the report states.

After weeks of speculation, it has finally been confirmed that The Flash director Andy Muschietti will be returning to the DC Extended Universe to lead the next Batman film, The Brave and the Bold. Director Andy Muschietti and DC Studios co-chief James Gunn have both indicated that they will helm the next iteration of the Dark Knight remake, and now it has been "confirmed with multiple sources" by One Take News.

Many have speculated that The Flash director Andy Muschietti will move on to the first chapter in James Gunn and Peter Safran's retooled DC Cinematic Universe, The Brave and the Bold, but Muschietti has been cagey about the issue. I can't comment on that... just yet was his recent response. The horror films It, It Chapter Two, and Mama have brought Muschietti more fame than The Flash. While Muschietti has received mixed reviews for his work on The Flash, James Gunn has been effusive in his praise, declaring the film "probably one of the greatest superhero movies ever made" in February and announcing that "Andy's going to be doing more stuff for us."

Chapter One: Gods and Monsters of the new DCU will include The Brave and the Bold. Superman: Legacy kicks off this new chapter, which will also include the film adaptations of The Authority, The Brave and the Bold, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, and Swamp Thing, with further films in the series to be announced at a later time. The Brave and the Bold will focus on Bruce Wayne and his son Damian Wayne (now known as Robin), however specifics are being kept under wraps. After seeing the finished product, Gunn has called the film a "strange father and son story" about the superhero team. On July 11, 2025, Superman: Legacy will be released as the first film in Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.

First, Andy Muschietti will helm two Batsuits in The Flash.

Director Andy Muschietti will tackle two iterations of The Caped Crusader in The Flash before delving into the dynamic between Batman and his son. In The Flash, time travel and superheroes will collide when the title character uses his abilities to alter the past. Nonetheless, he becomes stranded in a realm where General Zod has returned and threatens apocalypse after his attempt to save his family accidentally affects the future. The Flash, alone among the heroes, attempts to convince a radically different Batman to come out of retirement so that he may help rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian.

Ezra Miller will reprise his role as Barry Allen/The Flash, while Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton will return as alternate versions of Batman; Sasha Calle will play Kara Zor-El/Supergirl; Ron Livingston will play Henry Allen; Maribel Verd will play Nora Allen; Kiersey Clemons will play Iris West; and Antje Traue will play Faora-Ul; and the film promises many cameo appearances.

The Flash, which has been repeatedly delayed over the years, will finally be released in the United States on June 16.
