Stephen Amell, a former star of the Arrowverse, is interested in the DC Extended Universe (DCU), and he has some fascinating ideas about what they are doing.
Stephen Amell gives off the impression that he is ready to say goodbye to the Arrowverse and Oliver Queen, but he is still anxious about the direction the DC Universe may take. When Arrow debuted on television in 2012, the actor was in responsibility of playing the lead role in the program, which was the first official installment in the television universe developed by The CW.
After more than 10 years on television and eight shows that shared narratives, crossovers, and characters, the franchise has finally come to an end with the cancellation of The Flash. On the other hand, what they were able to accomplish on the smaller screen was extremely difficult to recreate on the larger one.
In 2013, Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Comics presented the world with the very first movie in what would become a wider cinematic universe. The Snyderverse was officially launched with Man of Steel, and it appeared to have a promising future. However, the subsequent chapter in the narrative, Batman v Superman, was not successful in winning over fans or critics. When Zack Snyder was forced to quit the production of Justice League before it was finished, the production company turned to Joss Whedon to take over, due to the success that he had gained at Marvel.
However, the revisions that Whedon made to the picture, as well as the adjustments that the studio made to another of the films in the franchise, 2016's Suicide Squad, resulting in two films that were either equally as lambasted as the previous one or received even more criticism than the prior film. The franchise began to experience a decline in popularity over time, despite the fact that the initial sections of Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Shazam! were all commercial successes.
Because of this, David Zaslav, the CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, stated a year ago that the firm would be establishing DC Studios, a subsidiary that would be particularly responsible for all projects relating to the comic book industry, and that would construct a new DC Universe under the leadership of James Gunn.
Amell is of the opinion that the project does not yet have clear ideas to continue forward in an appropriate manner.
Why Stephen Amell believes that the DCU is Sending a Message That Can't Be Decoded
The actor who plays Oliver Queen on Arrow admitted during a live interview on Whatnot that he is a little unclear about what the business plans to accomplish with the future of the franchise:
"Man, I just don't know. I really have no idea. Those individuals... the DC Extended Universe... they need to determine whether or not they want to engage in it and whether or not they believe that they are superior to television. Because I am receiving contradictory information, which suggests to me that I am not clear on the situation. You both go about your own business. We carried out our duties. The answer is no... I just... Listen, as of just this moment, first and foremost, I wish absolutely nothing but the best for everyone. I want nothing more than to watch wonderful movies, but at the moment, they require us a lot more than we require them.
Not only that, but Amell also discussed the possibility of a different actor taking on the role of Green Arrow, and he voiced his desire for the character to make another appearance:
"I am a caretaker for Oliver Queen, and [Grant Gustin] is a custodian for Barry Allen in the same way that... look, I don't believe anyone is asking Tom Welling how he thinks about who is going to portray the next Superman. I am a custodian for Oliver Queen, and [Grant Gustin] is a custodian for Barry Allen in the same way that. I am aware of the geographical proximity and other factors, yet there will be another Oliver Queen. There will be, and it'll be new, cool, and thrilling, and the degree to which the internet despises it will probably serve as a direct indication of how excellent it will be.
