In the role of Patricia "Pat" Phelps, Courteney Cox (Friends, Scream), Greg Kinnear (Little Miss Sunshine), Gus Birney (I'm Thinking of Ending Things), Dylan Gage (Fear Street: 1978), Merrin Dungey (Big Little Lies), and Mira Sorvino (Impeachment: American Crime Story) star in Shining Vale.

What You Can Hope to See in the Second Season of Shining Vale

In the first season of Shining Vale, we are introduced to the dysfunctional Phelps family. In an effort to escape dealing with their issues, the Phelps family decides to move to an ancient Victorian house in Connecticut. Little do they realize that their problems will follow them wherever they go, since it appears that the house is haunted.

Pat, the mother, is a woman who rose to prominence years ago as a result of the publication of a novel. However, she has not been able to produce any new work of fiction during this time, even as her marriage to her husband continues to fail and her children give her little attention. Pat begins to see Rosemary, a demonic figure who she feels is possessing her when they move into the new house. Once they move, she begins to see Rosemary. At the conclusion of the first part of the series, Pat's family makes the decision to check him into a mental institution. When the first season comes to a close, the beginning of the second season will start up a few months later, when Pat has been discharged from the hospital. However, this is not because she is in good health; rather, it is because her health insurance will no longer cover the cost of her treatment.

Pat leaves work with the intention of working things out with her family when she returns home, but things appear to be in an even worse state than they were before because she feels ignored by her children and husband. But that isn't even the worst of it; the main problem arises when she meets his new neighbor Ruth, who is a copycat of Rosemary and looks exactly like her. As Pat struggles to escape her own personal hell, she gradually becomes aware of the sinister mysteries that the home conceals. Because it's possible that she's right, and her new place of residence could very well be inhabited by sinister powers.

Jeff Astrof and Sharon Horgan are the show's creators. They also serve as producers, along with Courteney Cox, Dana Honor, Aaron Kaplan, and Clelia Mountford. Shining Vale premiered on Netflix on April 15, 2018. The second season of the show will begin airing on Starz on Friday the 13th of October.
